"You have to stay in school, you have to. Because that's the one thing people can't take away from you is your education. And it's worth the investment" - Michelle Obama
The Grand Education Foundation (GEF) came to life through a wish to make a difference by affording less privileged children the opportunity
to conquer the world, starting with a basic education.
With a strong link to South Africa and a very good understanding of its schooling system, the founders of GEF focus their efforts towards helping educate those children who would otherwise not be able to attend school. Without this basic education these children will not be in a position to further develop their potential, expand their horisons, hone their talents and be the best they can be.
South Africa knows a public and private schooling system consisting of primary and secondary school. Children attend school from the age of 6 and complete their secondary education at the age of 18 before going to university. Unlike many other countries, the public schooling system is not free and therefore parents have to pay school fees on an annual basis.
No money means no education for your children.
Our aim is to help children stay in school as we ourselves were fortunate enough to get educated. We realise that we were only able to achieve what we have in life through gaining an education. We have been able to work in different countries, build businesses, travel the world and this is only possible because we were given to opportunity to be educated.
